This page explains the cookies and similar tools used on aeoseo.com. The site is run by AEO SEO, a two-person SEO and design studio.
We keep the list short, and we do not use advertising cookies. You can read every page on this site without logging in.
How we handle personal data in general, including messages you send us, is explained in our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website saves in your browser. It lets the site remember something between pages or visits, such as that you are logged in.
Local storage is a similar browser feature. It keeps small bits of data in your browser without using a cookie file.
On this page, “cookies” covers both. We describe each one by what it does. The exact names and lifetimes are set by the software and can change with updates.
Cookies used on this site
aeoseo.com runs on WordPress with a small set of plugins. These are the tools that may save cookies in your browser.
WordPress login (editors only)
WordPress sets login cookies only when someone logs in to the admin area to edit the site. Readers never need to log in.
Login cookies keep an editor signed in. They last about two days, or about two weeks if the editor ticks “Remember Me”.
Opening the login page can also set a small test cookie. It checks that the browser accepts cookies before anyone signs in.
Comments
Comments are switched off on this site, so WordPress sets no comment cookies.
Jetpack statistics
We use Jetpack, a WordPress plugin made by Automattic, to count visits. Its reports show us totals, such as page views, popular articles and the sites that send us visitors.
To count visits, Jetpack may set cookies or use local storage in your browser.
Automattic explains the cookies its products use on its cookie policy page.
Jetpack forms and newsletter features
Our contact form is built with Jetpack. Our newsletter signup also runs on Jetpack.
These features may set cookies or use local storage so they work as expected. For example, a Jetpack cookie can remember if you ticked a subscription box. The same Automattic cookie page names these cookies.
LiteSpeed Cache
We use the LiteSpeed Cache plugin to make pages load faster. It keeps ready-made copies of our pages on the server.
LiteSpeed Cache may set a cookie that tells the server which cached copy to show you. For example, a logged-in editor should not see the same cached page as a reader.
This cookie is used only for caching.
What we do not use
We do not use advertising cookies. We do not run ad networks or retargeting tags on this site.
We do not use cookies to follow you across other websites, and we do not sell information collected by cookies.
If we publish a sponsored article, it carries a Sponsored label. It does not add advertising cookies.
Content from other websites
Some articles may embed content from other websites, such as a post from X (formerly Twitter).
Embedded content works as if you had visited that website. That website may set its own cookies, under its own policy. We do not control those cookies.
When you follow a link from our site to another website, that website’s own cookie policy applies.
How to control cookies
You decide which cookies your browser keeps. Look for a section called Privacy, Security or Cookies in your browser settings. Most browsers let you:
- See and delete the cookies that are already saved.
- Clear the cookies and site data for one website, such as aeoseo.com.
- Block third-party cookies, or block all cookies.
- Use a private or incognito window, which removes its cookies when you close it.
Clearing site data or browsing data also removes local storage. Your browser’s help pages explain the exact steps.
Many privacy extensions and content blockers also block statistics scripts, including Jetpack’s.
Blocking cookies will not stop you reading. Every article and page works without cookies. If you block them, editors cannot log in, and some form features may not remember your choices.
Changes to this policy
If we add a tool that sets new cookies, or remove one, we will update this page. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
